Sorry this one is a little late - I've been fighting acute anaemia. That means tiredness and falling asleep, and steak three times this week and being severely behind in this reviewing and replying business. Plus, it's bloody cold here at the moment for me, so that means more reasons to snuggle with Mr. Minty. Also, I got my hair cut this week, and

I'm musing about it all really since CH has said time and time again that she's known the ending since books 2/3 -which really is the beginning for her since she didn't know if she'd write a second book when the first took so long to get picked up.
You've made lots of great points about their characters and I see a lot of this as the fleshing out of who they are as vampire/human but I think just going back to those early 2 books we see a lot of things to indicate Eric's character and the situations he puts himself in that would lead to the eventual choosing of the two of them being with each other.

Well CH even says that she created Eric as a counterweight for Bill when she got picked up for a series. That means having different ideas, and different ways of handling it. And truly, Sookie has some of her most insightful thoughts about the nature of vampires when Eric's around. Bill told her, whereas Eric allowed her to discover for herself.
I think it's a pretty pervasive theme all the way through - it's just finally come to a head for them. It's been a pretty long road, as it should be, but it's been done right.

One of my children asked me recently whether I thought the president of the US ever lied. I tried to break it to them gently. ;)
Good point about the importance of Eric’s knowing about the CD before she used it. It reminds me of something you said one time about the witches doing Eric a favor by giving him amnesia. And it’s a good thing CH sets up these tests of love, including the Freyda mess, because Sookie is putting so much at risk-her life-that it makes no self-respecting sense for her to be with him unless he too makes a big leap, other than shooting off into the sky. If they’re going to be, I’m happy to watch CH build a case for them. The payoff will be so much better. JanineMNM

Awww. Poor kiddlywinks. Finding out the ugly truth. :D
It's really quite awesome the way she sets it up from both sides. At first, you can't think of the benefit, but then when you walk a mile in Eric's shoes, you see - hey yeah, this is also a benefit. And I think that with someone like Eric, it's just gotta be extreme stuff so that Sookie can see, even with his often arse backward way of doing things that he is committed. It's not all just convenience and whatnot - and of course, it keeps to her assertion that Sookie isn't a silly girl.

Google image search…that’s scary. JanineMNM

Even scarier for me - I have safe search off. I get a lot of porn (but it's essential for criminology). :D

Of course it's at this point where I realise that you're not actually a criminologist from Oz, no, you're Charlaine Harris incognito!

Lol - CH is much busier than I am. :D And I'm sure I would have slipped up and referenced stuff I haven't written yet. :D

Oh btw another great post to read. It is true this is the Sookie Eric fell for, the caring and thinking of others. I was wondering what he or Pam would have thought if she did wish Miriam back.( healthy) Pam would be a lost for words.

I think Pam would just be astounded, grateful and ecstatic. I think then Eric would still be unhappy that she used it for Pam and not him.

Eric is an old Fuddy Duddy. I bet he had to be first in all the viking games as a kid.

Unfortunately he is - he has a distinct air of crotchety old man at times. Combined with his ability to be an emotional toddler. :D But he has redeeming features, so it's all good. :D
