Sorry this one is a little late - I've been fighting acute anaemia. That means tiredness and falling asleep, and steak three times this week and being severely behind in this reviewing and replying business. Plus, it's bloody cold here at the moment for me, so that means more reasons to snuggle with Mr. Minty. Also, I got my hair cut this week, and

Sadly my brain is fried and I can only focus on the fluffy things - like your hair! That was a lot to cut off in one go, wow! I'm going in the opposite direction and trying to grow out that cut, which is pretty much my standard. Long hair annoys me too much though.
I did like the idea of Eric's reaction to the CD being a taste of what might happen if he knew Sookie could hear vampires - he'd want an easier ride for himself, but not necessarily want to take over the world. And yes, far, far too late for him to throw a wobbly about her helping other people now - he's benefited enough from it over the last couple of years.
Lol at Thyra and the cockney rhyming slang. I didn't even register it, but then my dad got back from the UK last weekend where he'd been off eating jellied eels with his London rellies. They're a weird bunch :)

It was a lot of hair to get cut off - it's weird now with no one catching my hair in their fingers, and my neck and back are cold. :D My hairdresser is so good I just trust him. He was right this time about how it looks better.
That's where Eric's self interest is cut with pragmatism. He's not going to be so all-fired powerful and telling people what to do - which is what keeps him alive and continuing his self interest. :D And yeah, if he hates a Sookie who helps other people, then apparently, he just plain old hates Sookie.
I know. I didn't even think about poor Thyra not understanding rhyming slang. It's such a weird thing that we've carried over. :D And blargh jellied eels.

I'm trying to catch up on the PMR backlog - which is impressive given you've not been well!
From my re-reads of the last two books, Sookie spends a lot of time considering what to do with the CD. And most of that consideration plays on the consequences of using it. She's far too cautious, with good reason, to use it in a deliberate fashion. It was always going to be used at a point in time when she has not time to think it through. Clever CH - she ran the deadlocked theme through DL in so may ways and I think this was one of the subtlest and one of the most illuminating as it reinforces what we know and like of Sookie's character.
Just read Playing Possum, the new short story. I won't spoil it for you;)

I know - even when I only do once a week, I don't seem to do too badly.
I think you're right - and chicpea pointed out that it's sort of like the last stopper on Sookie's personality - her base instinct. Like the hard bite, it mirrors what she will do if pressed. It really was a clever way too to remove ideas from Sookie about Eric picking her because she represented more power.
Oh pooh. I haven't gotten it yet.
