Well, I've done a post on
Bill-as-Eric, but I haven't done a post on Quinn-as-Eric. He's relatively popular too, so it's only fair, with all the suitor confusion. There's very little Quinn fic in the Fanfic.net fandom - but no one needs it when you can make Quinn into Eric. Mostly Quinn as a character called Quinn is wholly dismissed or used as a

Actually - I like Quinn. I didn`t at first because I found him a bit too oldfashioned for my taste. Probably the protectiveness that I found annoying though it probably is endearing.
The only suitor I really dislike is Alcide. Blah.
Oh, and please don`t say Swedish. Please, please, pretty please.

Quinn is really old-fashioned - I think he'd probably annoy Sookie with that - she was a little worried about his attitude of male protecting.
I have to say Swedish - the people who write Eric like this are *obviously* writing about Askars, and their fantasy about how one day he could find them and do them. It's not about Eric the character at all. It's real person fic with Askars starring as Eric.

He certainly annoyed me with it. But there was no harm in it, no malice, so he was one of Sookie`s better suitors. And I`m glad he`s found someone.
Arrrgh. It`s just - I`m tired of reading Google Translate Swedish that is absolutely gibberish.

My pet peeve is always the human stories where Eric's Swedish and goes to the States and finds nothing is different. Or nothing worth noting, anyway. Sure, they stare at him for being tall, but he seems to forget about any culture shock he might have once he sees that blonde chick he really wants to bone :)
I just don't get why he *has* to be Swedish (apart from the creepy ASkars thing - and that sends shivers up my spine). I mean VampEric isn't particularly drawn to his culture anymore, he's had 1000 years to assimilate a hell of a lot of other stuff. And buy a Corvette :)

When they went to Jason's wedding in Hot Shot, he was looked at like a rock star. Even Sam was in aw of him. "Babe this, Babe that" just got my skin crawling. He could have told Sookie what was going on in his past. He had time. Sookie just wasn't into him enough. She still had Eric on her mind.
Is it true that Sookie is the one to name him John? I forgot which book that was in. He was known only as Quinn before she introduced him to someone.
LOL tiger skin rug in front of a fireplace. Gotta love it.

The truth is is that if he was actually conceited, he would have told Sookie all about that stuff - you're punishing Quinn based on how *other* people see him. If people are in awe of him, then that's not actually Quinn's doing - other than surviving the pits. And while he didn't tell Sookie his past, there was good reason for that - he thought it would put her off being with him, and since it lead to them breaking up, Quinn had a good notion of what could come between them.
I disagree that Sookie wasn't into him enough. Even up to the Companion, Quinn was still enough of a temptation that only logic keeps Sookie with Eric - she says he's "warm and generous and a magnificent lover". If there were no vampires trying to manipulate assets, Quinn would have been an absolute shoo-in.
No, his name is John - Sookie just guessed it.

Your right. YOu made a lot of great points. Eric and Quinn are so much alike. Eric calls Sookie "lover or wife". Quinn called Sookie "babe". Quinn called her that before he even knew her. At least Eric used her name sometimes.
I have nothing, I just don't like him. I thought he was arrogant. ( yes Eric is arrogant too). So I'll stop putting my foot in my mouth now. lol
I didn't know Sookie guessed his name. Maybe it's the genie pants. Shudder.

I despise the use of "babe" in particular - but that doesn't mean that because he uses "babe" he's completely loathsome. Just like Bill using Sookie and sweetheart doesn't make him a dashing romance hero. I prefer cher to lover, but which word each man uses is immaterial to whether they're a good person. Alcide never uses one, and I despise him.
This post is about a pretty key difference - but all of the things that Quinn gets bashed for - conceit, arrogance, not hanging around Sookie like a bad smell and genie pants/gold leather belt with tassles - these are all also Eric qualities.

Where were we? Oh yes! Quinn - when I read the books (before Fanfic got a hold of my brain, warped it, confused it and then you helped straighten it out) I remember liking Quinn a lot. I remember thinking he'd nicked Sookie's leg but I was getting used to people being not quite as they seemed, and not to be trusted, but in general, Quinn was the one I favoured (other than all that Babe stuff... but then I call Mr Elbly either Kitty or Schnooks, both of which he dislikes, so I'm hardly one to comment)
The male-protectiveness streak he's got going would drive me up the wall, and definitely Sookie I think, but he's caring and family are deeply important to him... I think if there were no vampires in her world, Sookie could do a lot worse than Quinn.

The whole babe thing - eh, I don't like babe either. But I'm not going to base my dislike of a character on one word. Mind you, I did read that DR was apparently completely crappily edited because CH used the word "craven" twice, which said fanfic editor would never, ever do. So apparently, you get one word usage like in Scrabble, and then NO MORE. So I can envision some people not liking Quinn for that.
She already expressed reticence about his protectiveness streak - finding his bossy attitude with money put up a little warning flag. I think it would have caused some problems for them - and ultimately lead to them breaking up because he tried to handle things all by himself. But I think in the face of Victor, Freyda and Appius, that's absolutely small potatoes if we're talking relationship issues.
I think if there were no vampires - and they were wiped out tomorrow, Sookie would live happily ever after with Quinn - and I wouldn't blame her.
