Wow, this is HILARIOUS! I love the footnotes! Sometimes I think parodies of academic work are my favorite type of humor. Are there more chapters of this, or is the "Chapter 7" at the top just part of the parody? I would LOVE to read more.

Thanks! The footnotes were great fun to do. I'm afraid the chapter number is part of the parody (I'm assuming hypothetical chapters on Ishval etc), but this was so much fun to do I may have to revisit the premise!

Awesome! Brava. I love this kind of parody and all the lovely world-building it involves. Numbered notes appropriate to the academic tone:

1. I want to read Winry's autobiography now.
2. I never thought of Al going into Parliament but it immediately makes sense.
3. Armstrong writing romance novels! Brilliant!
4. Al as a poker shark. Absolutely.
5. I dare you to write some poor student stuck in a tutorial with a thirtysomething Prof. Elric.

Thank you! World-building is one of my favourite things; I had great fun just making up all the citations!

I never thought of Al going into Parliament but it immediately makes sense.

I think my second thought on ch. 102 after 'OMFG ROY' was 'Al for President!'. He's idealistic enough to go into politics as a genuine public servant, and I think all those years with Ed would have prepared him very well for dealing with- or sidestepping- arguments!

Al as a poker shark. Absolutely.

I think Havoc and Breda were very quickly glad that they weren't playing him for money. No facial expressions!

I dare you to write some poor student stuck in a tutorial with a thirtysomething Prof. Elric.

That is a truly tempting idea. I dread to think of what happened to the first poor student to accidentally use the word 'short' around him...

Well, I reckon Roy isn't out for the count (I think we discussed this on a comm and both agreed) but Al would definitely make a great politician. Just the right amount of cunning, but genuinely committed to doing the right thing. Aww.

No facial expressions! OMG you're right. Of course as soon as he got his body back he'd suck ass because he's not used to schooling his face. Oddly enough, I imagined that Havoc would be quite sucky at poker before his injury, but months stuck in hospital would give him an awful lot of time to practice and up his game - and sadly, lots of practice hiding his grouchy face from his friends would also come in handy for poker.

I've written a couple of horrible, painful alchemy tutorials in the past (one of them was mad Papa Hawkeye and Roy, ha ha) and I totally recommend it. Cathartic fun!

Oh yeah, I definitely see Al as being part of the next generation after Mustang's sorted out the country (and probably retired to live a nice happy life with Hawkeye, as I wrote this mostly to cheer myself up a few days ago).

I like the idea of Havoc using his downtime to hone his poker skills (as well as his smuggling skills). Maybe he comes in to play against Al while Al's recovering from all that malnutrition. Aww.

Oh, this is a work of beauty. It's so professionally written, just like a book of this type would be. I'm another who'd like to read Winry's memoirs. =P

This is just brilliant. Well done!

Thank you! I'm glad you like the style- it was pretty weird to be using my academic 'voice' for fanfic.

Also your icon is hilarious!
