My Pygmalion Complex

This perfectly describes why I write X-Files fanfic:

'And I am a writer, writer of fictions
I am the heart that you call home
And I've written pages upon pages
Trying to rid you from my bones'

The Decemberists - The Engine Driver

Someday I will have rid Mulder and Scully from my bones. It will be a happy/devastating day. A blessing in disguise. Very sad ( Read more... )

I think the larger question for me is why I wonder if I'm ill if I'm not thinking that it would be a good day to watch some XF. (Although I haven't watched any XF in weeks or months, unless you count IWTB with director/producer commentary, which let me tell you, brings a level of humor to the movie heretofore unrecognized.) Just the other day I was aghast that I couldn't remember what episode followed another one, nor what season I could even find them in. I immediately sought a cold compress to the head. ;-)

I hope Mulder and Scully stick to your bones for a long time, particularly if you continue to quote music lyrics while discussing them.

I feel the same way about Mulder and Scully. I don't think they will be leaving me for a long time but they probably will someday, and yes I even look forward to it a little. Sometimes I do feel that I should be spending my life in other ways. But they do keep the boring monster from the door. And although I am no Dickens they have done wonders for my writing.
