Snape and Sherlock WIP Part 3

Not quite done, but here's the piece so far. I wanted to draw these two in parallel as much as possible since the purpose of this piece is to highlight their similarities. This meant I wanted to use similar coloring techniques on both. Both have a talisman that is not black and both have a textured hero's cape of sorts. Sherlock's coat pleases me ( Read more... )

Gorgeous, I love the texture of their coats. That detail just struck out at me :D

Thank you. The texture took the most time, but it really does add an additional dimension. I'm so pleased with Sherlock's coat in particular.

I like how you highlighted the edges of the coats in thick, white lines. Very dramatic!

I find it tricky to work with black, so this seems the best way to show the creases and outlines of the fabric. I could also do this if I did cross-hatching instead of just a big black marker, but it takes so much longer.

Yep. I appreciate how you went all out with it, and didn't try to make them gray, or thin, or otherwise try to disguise/downplay them.

Hello there, red buttonhole! *loves*

SNAPE'S HANDS. The spidery clenched look. So much tension.

Ha! at how Snape's clothes make Sherlock's coat look not black at all! It reads as black or almost black usually, but this is like "Oh, I'll show you black. Mua ha ha ha ha."

Both of them make me just want to slide my hands around their waists, beneath their cloaks, and embrace them. I feel like I know these prickly, complicated people. I am quite sure they both love me. :-) I will be nice to them and I will just laugh when they grumble.

I'll bet they both have lovely waists around which to slide one's hands. Mmmm....

I see I forgot to color Sherlock's big button. Hmm. Need to research what color that's supposed to be.

And now we are off to the text. I'll shall be emailing. This will be the tricky part, but I am excited and want to finish this this weekend.

Also, a title. I'm feeling something to do with Not being heros, with Anti-heros. The bravest and best men.

That big button makes me think of the Fangirl.

P.S. The other day, I had to use my sewing machine and I was puzzled to find that I'd left it with red thread on top, black thread in the bobbin, and the buttonhole foot. Huh? What on earth...? OH. Right. Buttonhole for the Sherlock mitten.

Heeeeeeee.
