PI Isn't Writing?!

Mar 27, 2011 01:02

 Ugh.

Guys! I need help!

Preferably professional help, because I'm just not feeling the whole writing thing right now. It's not even writers' block! I know what I want to do (for the most part, I've hit a bit of a wall with WWNF) but I'm just not feeling it. I'm all lazy and bored and empty.

Blah. I need inspiration. I need fire! If you guys can ( Read more... )

Maybe this comm might give you some idea?

Try not to force it. Sometimes, I think the muse just needs a bit of a break to come back refresh. :D

And yay sequel! I haven't had time to read Body Farm yet, so will probably wait till the whole thing's finished before I start.

Lo, you shall reap that which you sow!

I don't force it, but I hate being offline for so long.

You may have a long wait. TBF is an epic fic of epicness.

Oh, I don't mind waiting for a good epic tale. I love long fics where I can just sink myself into the universe for a few hours/days. :D

It is AWESOME. In fact, I think I'll go re-read the first few chapters as a reward to myself for finishing that pesky overdue proofreading. ;p

I know that when I was writing my big story, the one that ended up being 85,000 words long, there were several points where I felt that everything I was writing was crap. I had to step back and not write on it for up to two weeks at some points, not even rereading what I had done. Then, when I went back to it, I saw a different direction, or point of view, and I could start again. Perhaps you just need the chance to step back, and then it will start flowing again.

Also, yay for sequel to Bound in Gold! I absolutely love that story, and can't wait to see where you take it. I love morning after stories, and like you said, two months is a lot of rollercoasting time!

For inspiration, may I present this awesome violin rendition of Your Love is my Drug? I always imagine this is what Sherlock would look like when he thinks no one is watching and can indulge his urge to just play.

You're right. I think I need to unplug for a bit. Spend a day or two sans internet. Just read book and feel the sun on my face (oh, right, I live in New York. We don't get the sun here). I think I've spent too much time saturated with Sherlock fandom, I need a bit of non-Sherlock time to recharge.

Also, DUDE! I have the coolest readers! That video was pure, undiluted win! And while I don't think Sherlock would be that groovin', I definitely can see him with his aubergine sleeves rolled up, grinning like an idiot and improving pop music with every drag of his bow. Probably while sitting in the window.

Isn't that video just amazing? You should see some of the guy's other stuff. It's brilliant!

And yeah, Sherlock would probably be grinning fit to split his face as he improves on today's "unsophisticated" music.

Threats? Bribes? Cookies Any of that helpful? Cuz, hey...

You wrote like a fiend for weeks - is it any surprise you're all written out? No.

Do you think, maybe, trying to white 3 stories at once might be what's pulling you to little pieces?

I would formulate a response, but I'm far too busy staring at your icon.

Staring...staring...staring.......

Actually, I always write several stories at a time. I can't stand anything else. My brain is constantly working out plot and character and dialogue, so once I'm not working on one project, I have to focus on another one or my head starts to spin. It's been like that since I was five years old.

But I do need to take a break every now and then. For me, that means logging off, watching telly or reading books, or even just closing my eyes and creating little scenes in my head. I think I'll go offline for the next day or two. Recharge my batteries.

Ahh, I feel your pain! I've got 3 stories going right now and I just can't seem to make myself keep at it, it's driving me up the wall. However, what I find helpful is making a soundtrack on my ipod to whatever story I'm working on. I just listen to it over and over until something comes up. Or I go eat cookies. This works too.

And yay for Bound In Gold sequel!! I was just thinking of a morning after scene for Chapter 23 today, but I have a feeling yours will be better (:

Once you're recharged, we'll all happily eat up your next serving of awesome. Don't rush your genius.

Oh, hardly genius. In fact I'm becoming increasingly aware of characterisation problems in BiG that are making me want to stab my brain. I'm trying to fix them for the sequel, but so far all I have is a page and a half of crap-I-must-rewrite-from-fucking-scratch.

Even so, Chai.

The world is better with Chai. (Capital letter essential.)
