So my wrist is healing up nicely, I can go several hours without the brace now, and my job interview went quite well. (If short interviews really are a good sign, I'm in with a chance here. Mine took all of seven minutes and at least one of those was spent waiting for my interviewer). So hopefully I can finish up 21 and get that out ASAP.

HOWEVER, I ( Read more... )

I am absolutely the same with music with words! I can't listen to it while reading or trying to concentrate, unlike a lot of my friends.

The two instrumental pieces that spring to mind first are 1) Ravel's Trio for Violin, which you can sample here as part of the soundtrack for Un Coeur en Hiver. I actually have the full soundtrack, if you are interested in the complete tracks. And 2) Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto no 2, which I found the first movement of online here. For some reason I can't find a full playlist on youtube...

I'm definitely keeping an eye on here for other suggestions.

I'm quite fond of Ennio Morricone's soundtracks. I can also recommend Le Grand Orchestre de Paul Mauriat if you want some really nice, but undemanding music.

I am the same way at work - instrumental only. My iPod is a mix of Celtic instrumental and classical, and some other random stuff (all Western). Here are my favourites ( ... )

If you want tunes that you might know, try the "Vitamin String Quartet" they are easy to find on youtube.

Vanessa Mae, David Garrett, Leahys, David Arkenstone or Hevia.

VSQ is a great in-between-er for modern music and classical. They've done covers for everything from Gaga to The Beatles to Switchfoot, so you can really get the full spectrum of musical tastes, whatever yours may be. And personally, I've found that it's particularly inspirational when writing anything Sherlock related. Those violins...

I like the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack. Most of those are instrumental.

And congrats on healing and the good job interview! I'm glad that you're taking good care of that wrist; I had a friend who abused a damaged wrist and ended up with permanent injuries.
