I had a worm bin I started over the summer, but it got infested by fruit flies. I hate fruit flies. I finally got to attend a Pennsylvania Resource Council class on vermicomposting, and it was worthwhile

What a great story! Thanks for sharing. I would love a worm bin. But I'm chicken.

We too have major problems with fruit flies this winter. Now I have a covered under-sink kitchen compost bin, so that helps. But we have fruit all the time in the house for the kids. Flies are so annoying, but getting rid of the food for them tends to limit their population.

Thanks again for the pics. I'm glad you started over. Did you use red worms? I hear their the compost worm and none other is as good. Earthworms are the worst. So I've read. Again, I've studied it online a bit, but chicken out when it comes to building one. hehe Way to go!
