...And this, of course, is what I'd LIKE to see happen...though maybe it's just the angst-cookie in me, but the other piece rings "truer" to me, if that makes any sense.

And I think you wrote Naruto just fine even if it IS a little Asch-&-Natalia-esque lolol but I don't think that's OOC for these two.

Personally I think this one seems more probable. The thing is that if we didn't have the starting of the Sakura development in 459 (?) then your other piece would seem possible because thats what the old Sakura would do (IMO), but now Sakura has found a resolve and if the meeting is written this way then it would go perfectly well with her development.

I hope this made sense :P

This was beautifully written. Also don't give up hope for SS and team 7 and Sasuke.
