Picking Flowers

Title: Picking Flowers
Fandom: Original
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Summary: We don’t choose our destinies. But what if we could?
Notes: Written for the April week 3 challenge at brigits_flame, theme “flourish”. That sound you hear is me fervently praying that the week 4 theme isn’t “garden”, because if it is, I’m screwed. :P

The garden seems to stretch out forever in all directions, flowers and trees of all shapes, sizes, colors, scents, spanning out all around her. )

So sweet!! <3 esteebee April 19 2009, 17:50:18 UTC
This is such a warm hopeful story, not quite like your usual angst haha
I really love it though :)

I enjoyed how you wrote the beginning, and the fairy was very cool! (It reminds me a little of the web-comic Misfile) The flowers were an awesome way to look into the future, and I loved the paradox of how if you choose a future the flower has to die; all the other possibilities of your life have to die for the one future as well.

I'm leaving to go back to school in a few mins, so I will see you soon!!! <3

Hey, I can write things other than angst! I just choose not to! :P

The beginning was a lot more visual than the way I usually write, but I wanted to just kind of throw you guys into the setting. As for the fairy--she actually started out being kind of spazzy and Doctor Who-esque and then toned herself down. :P

Thanks lovely!

I really love the style here -- it meshes perfectly with the content, soft and sweet and fragrant, in a literary sort of way.

(I should really stop pretending I make sense. XD)

The idea is fantastic, and you executed it beautifully. :D

Ha, I wrote a piece to "garden" for something else earlier this week -- here's hoping that's not the prompt we get! XD

Thanks so much! My writing tends to be kind of dark and quirky, so I'm always kind of surprised when one piece actually appeals to a lot of people. :P Can't piss everyone off all the time, I guess. But I'm glad you liked it!

(Also, I love your username. That's adorable.)
