Book Making Woes

Trying to layout a book in M$ Word is a nightmare. So, I dug out Adobe PageMaker (which I am more familiar with) and while much easier, its ability to export as PDF was not embedding the fonts. So, updated Adobe Distiller and tried again after checking to make sure all the settings were right, Lulu (the book printer) kept rejecting the file as not ( Read more... )

I've tried using Word for layout, I know what you mean by nightmare.

I question having to change the book size simply because the printer won't keep up to date, you should at least get a discount if you're providing a print ready book in a format they claim to handle, but the problem is on their end. Ideally, they should fix the problem, at their expense and let you print the book the size you wanted.

It has to be on their end, as you say. I'm using the latest Distiller and Acrobat, so, it must be some issue with them not being current with Adobe or whatever PDF system they use can't handle the current Acrobat file type.
