IUI

Mar 07, 2012 15:45

Out of celebration of finally being out of my first trimester (actually it depends on who you ask, I've noticed that some people say 13 weeks is the end some say 12) I've decided to write out my IUI experience.

That is so exciting! Maybe not as much fun as making babies the old-fashioned way but exciting none the less. YAY!!!

1.8 million! I wonder how many times you'd have to have sex to get that.

I have no idea! I tried googling how much sperm normally makes it into the uterus and I couldn't find anything :/

I remember watching a show on TV a couple years ago how sperm makes it to the egg. They used humans to recreate the "horrors" that the sperm has to go through. It was very interesting and scary. It's crazy to me to imagine that I had three eggs, 1.8 million sperm and got 1`baby out of the deal.

If you'd gotten three out of the deal would you have been like "hey can I return one or two of these?"

Yea it was tough but I can't imagine the IVF and all the other things I could have done. Way more invasive.

Although my doctor says some people prefer IVF because even though it's more invasive, more medications and more costly your chances of conceiving are 50-60% instead of an IUI which on the high end 25%. IUI pretty much has the same chance as having sex. And when I say sex, it's normal healthy couple having sex to conceive. Not a person with fertility issues.

WOW I loved reading this (in a non-creepy way lol). I'm so glad that you were able to get pregnant! Even though Hiram is not with you, he will be. And that will be such a great time!
