So I'm less "omg, must make post!!!" this week (oh how short-lived the gleeful return to BSG levels of fangirling in real time--probably healthier for everyone), but a few thoughts on River, et. al. nonetheless:

Yes, the wee girl was doing a time lord regeneration. It made me wonder if she was really the Master or the Doctor's (Ten's) genetically manipulated daughter or a future thing or what. I don't know enough about DW mythology either. But I did go "whoa" when I saw it

I'm refraining from theories entirely when it comes to all of this. I just want awesome River being awesome on my screen. Kissing and shooting and flirty banter, yay!!! (Though if one were into theories about the girl, tiredmomof2 has an intriguing one in the comment below...)

But maybe she was just pondering the possibility that it COULD'VE been.

This I can buy.

The alleged back-to-front reverse-timelines narrative arc for River & the Doctor bothers me, too: Actually, even The Time-Traveller's Wife makes the messed-up chronology slightly more complex and complicated (as loath as I am to admit it since I hated that book with the fiery burning passion of a thousand supernovae).

But I did enjoy their first/last/umpteenth/whatever kiss a whole lot: As you said, Eleven clearly enjoyed it, too, but he was simultaneously so very confuzzled and flaily and not at all a particularly suave or ardent lover - it cracked me up, and the moment was all the lovelier for it.

Having now rewatched the kiss a number of times, I completely agree that it is lovelier for Eleventy's confuzzlement. I think the first time through, it pinged a little bit for me that he wasn't sure he wanted it, but I now think that he entirely enjoyed it, even if he wasn't entirely sure what to do, which was kind of adorable. (I do not reliably find him adorable, incidentally, but I have a much better chance of it when he's being flustered by River!)

Love, love, love River. I even wanted to name our new puppy River after her, but I was vetoed by my husband and kids. Ended up naming the dog Lucy.

It maybe a red herring, but my take was that the little girl is Amy and Rory's daughter who was mutated in vitro by the TARDIS to be a time lord (lady?). She also could be River herself. There is definetly someting up with the negative/positive pregnancy reading. But that may be too obvious and maybe a diversion on Moffat's part.

Next week, pirates. Can't go wrong with pirates!!

I will be buying a car in the next couple of months and have been considering calling it River, depending on how the mood strikes me when I actually have the car. So I understand the impulse entirely! (And while the Narnia fan in me also loves the idea of calling your dog Lucy, River would, I think, have been more original. Ah well!)

I've decided to abstain from theorizing (on one hand I don't know enough about the canon as a whole, and on the other I find that I really only care about awesome River being awesome on my screen), but this one does seem like a promising possibility. It's hard to say what would be too obvious or not at this point: it ought not to be too far out in left field, but then again, who knows what Moffat considers left field.

Just as long as there is awesome River, I'm happy!

I also thought of Lucy from Narnia when we named her that (that is what got my vote). Though I like River better. Calling your car River is also awesome.

I've not really done to much theorizing, though I do like reading other people's theories. But I'm kind of onboard with the River is the little girl theory, for now.

But you are right, River is so awesome I'm happy just to have her in the episodes. I can wait for the big reveal of who she is, I just hope it matches the awsesomeness of River!!

Dare I hope that the point of all this is that River has it a little wrong? That she thinks they're going back to front, and then at some point she realizes it's more complicated than that?

One way or the other, the show has given us evidence for greater complication, and I'm holding to that!
