Those Duke kids are mere babes in this whole NCAA tournament entitlement game. We can talk when they've had a few more decades under their belt. They've had a run with a good coach. We're a dynasty.
(Yes, I totally hate other teams that do this, but I'm willing, nevertheless, to be the Yankees of NCAA men's basketball. :D)
If we should be so unfortunate as to lose to UConn, I'll get on the VCU or Butler bandwagon (I'm actually a little more of a Butler fan, I think, because I like the idea of them becoming a little mini-dynasty of their own; VCU needs to establish more longevity first). But at this point, there's no question where my loyalty lies! Go Big Blue!!!
Actually, UCLA was what Duke is now: a team that had a great run under an excellent coach but that hasn't had the long-term tradition of winning that you get in a team that's a true dynasty. Kentucky isn't the only true dynasty; we beat the other one this evening. But both UCLA and Duke would have to prove that they can win under more than one coach, over many decades, before they get to join the ranks.
I expect Kentucky to go to the Final Four EVERY YEAR because it is our RIGHT and DESTINY
Amen, sister! Another great game and a continued great run! I can't believe that things are finally falling into place - finally again, I suppose I should say. I wish they would've shown more of the post-game on tv, cutting down the net and all. When the players are all smiling and relaxed they look much more like the kids that they are. Speaking of, I still can't adjust to the fact that in 1998, you were still in high school. Egads. :-)
Woot!!!! I can't believe how well they're playing!!! And I completely agree about the post-game. Usually I don't pay attention to those things, but I definitely would have watched yesterday. (Also, one of the UK bench warmers is a kid whose family I know, and it's always fun to see him on TV--though he rarely actually gets to play, so watching him celebrating afterwards is usually the best chance!)
And yes, I graduated from high school in 1998! Will be 31 in September. :)
Which player? I wish I knew the benchies a little better, but, no time this year. When we still lived in town and had local cable we got a Ky station. So those years really got to know everyone by watching Midnight Madness and the local-only games with the Ky announcers.
Why do I get the feeling that pride will be no problem for me?! :D
FINAL FOUR!!!! And it's particularly sweet with this team, which has not been particularly stunning during the regular season, during this alleged building year, but they've really come together and started playing like a team and firing on all cylinders, and it's good to be a Wildcat today!

Especially because, in a bizarre twist of bracket weirdness, we're playing for pride. ;)
