In case anyone who cares didn't realize this: Lie to Me returns this evening! I admit I'm a little skeptical that the things I didn't like about the first half of season 2 will be perpetuated in the back half (especially after I saw an interview with one of the writers who basically said that turning it into The Show Where Cal Takes Lots of Stupid ( Read more... )

OMG, I can't tell you how much I love you right now for that Jack/Irina link. I've started reading them again but had no idea where to look!

It looks like Yahtzee's other Jack/Irina fics are mostly giant, epic, ensemble pieces in which Jack and Irina (I think/hope) play important roles--which sounds much more like the show I wish Alias had been. But I'd imagine the Jack/Irina tag at AO3 is not a bad place to go. I've read a few so far (though I really am trying to at least finish season 2 before I get too much into the fic), and while the one I recced has stood out, the others have been really quite solid. Unfortunately, there aren't tons of stories there, so I'm not sure where one would look after that.

Any time, my dear, any time! And, well, it seems unlikely that I won't try writing Irina Derevko at some point, doesn't it?! ;)

(Although right now my brain is a little overcome with an original story, and I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT'S ABOUT!!! I haven't written original fiction since early college, and I feel like I wouldn't even know where to begin. But suddenly there are these two women in my head with stories that I sort of want to tell, and, well, yeah. ?!?!?!? I have really never aspired to write stories about my own characters! I like to analyze other people's characters in fictional form! I'm confused ( ... )

I suppose I can sort of see how someone might not like Irina, exactly, but I am completely boggled by the idea that people might not find her COMPLETELY COMPELLING!!! I mean, I'm not sure that I'd want to have a beer with her or anything (in fact, I so rarely feel like I'd want to have a beer with my favorite characters--hmm...), but I definitely want her on my television AT ALL TIMES!

And I'm definitely looking forward to losing some time to Yahtzee's massive epics once I've actually finished watching the parts of the show that I plan to watch.
