Hmmm, this article certainly provides some food for thought. However, I do agree with one of the previous commenters that the term "strong female character" has simply been misconstrued and twisted beyond recognition: No matter whether you take a passive, modest, beautiful, soft-spoken, sweet and helpless damsel in distress or a super sexy kick-ass kung-fu hacker spy chick in hotpants, both are catering to pre-conceived gender roles and male wish fulfillment fantasies on a very primitive level. They do not come across three-dimensional and well-rounded people, as the likes of Kara or Aeryn do (even though these two are also kick-ass and attractive).

Dee made her own damned choices.

Thanks a lot for the vid rec, too! It was a character study of Dee that I enjoyed immensely.
