This is getting recced far and wide, but I shall join my voice to the chorus. charmax's Unnatural Selection is one of the coolest vids I have EVER seen. It takes my two favorite robot apocalypse shows, BSG and TSCC, and tosses them together with a healthy dose of Charles Darwin, and the result is mindblowing and visually stunning. I had read that about the kids from Slumdog. I think it is rather cruel to bring these kids to the height of wealth - the Oscars - and then returning them to a cruel reality of little food and less hope. Especially when you shine on them hope and seemingly rip it away.

That article about the Slumdog Millionaire kids is heartbreaking. To me it felt sort of twisted to think about Hollywood 'rescuing' these kids, getting them housing and luxurious trips -- what about all the *other* children living in poverty there? But god, it must be awful for the mental health of such young children to see life outside of the slums and then have it taken away.
