fall means football!!!

Can we take a wild guess, my friends, at what historically uninspiring college football team has just beaten one of its chief rivals (heretofore ranked #9, no less), to find itself with an extremely inspiring 3-0 record as week three of the college season winds to a close??? Oh yes. That would be my University of Kentucky Wildcats. *dances* 40-34, ( Read more... )

Those Trojans are a bastard of a team, aren't they.

But look at it this way: no matter what happens this season for any of our teams, it could always be worse. We could be Notre Dame fans. ;)

I have no great love for Ohio State, either, though I don't harbor the passionate hatred for them that many people do. Part of this has to do with the fact that one of my best friends is an avid Ohio State fan and is actually not at all obnoxious about it. So even though I know she's the exception, I don't have as many bad associations with Ohio St.'s wretched fans as lots of people do.

Woo football! Around here, the excitement's all about pro ball, but it's still such a fantastic time of year. :)

I love how the fall just feels like football! Unfortunately, I have to manufacture a lot of the excitement in my neck of the woods because Canadians aren't so all about the football--especially American college football.

I enjoy pro ball, but it's the college that's in my blood: no one in my family comes from a state with a pro team, and my mother's from Alabama, where college football is like religion. It's the NCAA, and particularly the Southeastern Conference, where I have strong allegiances.

Cool you are watching HEROES. : ) Do you think you will be all caught up by the premiere on Sept. 24? Any favorite Character yet?

I'm about halfway through season 1, so I should be able to finish it in the next week. Of course, I won't actually be able to watch the premiere when it airs, I think, due to all the other stuff I've got going on that day. But the plan is to be done in time for season 2.

And I don't know that I've got a favorite character yet. I like Hiro lots, and despite my general ambivalence towards children, I'm quite fond of young Micah. I don't really love any of them, but neither do I dislike anyone. I'm interested in the show, and I think the plot is quite well-done, but so far that's about as far as it goes.
