Wow. That's an amazing, lovely, bittersweet story with so much depth. Just fantastically written. I like how you went back and forth between present and past. Excellent observations on just how much stress these people are under and how, no matter what the stakes and what the extenuating circumstances, a relationship still has its breaking point. Great story. :)

And you see why, with this inhabiting my brain as completely as it was yesterday, that your fic--starting from such a similar premise yet leaving them in such a different place--made me sniffle a bit. Because I'd much rather have my beloved pairing as they were in your story than in mine! Yet somehow I keep writing this angsty stuff... ;)

Although I tend to ship Vala when she's around rather then Janet, I do like this. I like the emotion you feel by everyone. Especially Daniel and Janet. And I like how you involve people after season 7 too like Cam, Carolyn and Vala.

And yeah, a large part of the point, at least in my mind, is that despite the AU, this is definitely located in season 10, with all that entails, so the s10 people were definitely going to get mentioned, even if I couldn't quite figure out how to work them in more materially.

Its not so much I don't ship Daniel/Janet, I just don't ship them after season 7. Like I don' ship them before season 3 because there is Daniel/Sha're. If that makes any sense.

I think the hard part is making the characters fit in with Janet as Cam and the other new characters for the most part never met her. SOme of them met her during Ripple Effect in a way, but Vala wasn't even there for that. So it would be weird and awkward I'd think.

Canon is canon, and it has to be a conscious decision when you change canon in fic

Way to go, Isa! Only one of your exquisite Daniel/Janet stories could drag me away from my 14 month obsession of writing SGA Ronon/Elizabeth ship fics.

This was deeply moving and so very possible if Heroes had gone differently.
