Hmm. Last night I found someone new had friended me. I checked it out, and found a Russian blog, although (as with so many Russian blogs) the username gave no indication of this. Checked the Interests list, and we didn't seem to have very much in common. Was disposed to keep tabs on him for a bit (it is a him - masculine past tense verbs), and

I have a few Russians who have friended me. It seems to be something they do on occasion. I've never really understood why they do it, but it is just something you get used to on LJ. :)

I'm not sure if I contacted my first Russian (through the Interests search function) or he contacted me - me him, I think. In fact (thinking as I go) I must have, because I've friended him, but he hasn't friended me back. He's interesting - sometimes does stuff in Welsh, and once did a Hungarian translation of a Welsh poem about an English king.
