The geek way to tire your child out:

Let him type a message in Skype to Daddy. Make him run to Daddy's laptop to make sure it got there. Repeat ad infinitum.

I have just found a large number of photographs of myself online, quite a few of them with Sandra, but a disproportionate number where I am at too great a distance to be identifiable as I climb up and down Lion Rock at Piha Beach.  Most of them I've never seen before.

Hmm. Last night I found someone new had friended me. I checked it out, and found a Russian blog, although (as with so many Russian blogs) the username gave no indication of this. It's just struck me what a hugely useful thing it would be to have an internal wiki on my computer-a set of files that would be organised as a wiki with mutual linking, and produced in the same way as a wiki. I could have texts in whatever language with links that connected words to a dictionary-type definition, simply by putting double square ( Read more... )

It looks like I may go back on my decision to buy a Mac. I can buy a Dell notebook tomorrow, since it is half the price. I would have ordered it tonight, but the website gave me instructions on making out the order, without giving me any clue how to find the page where I could actually make the order. I am expecting soon to be out of contact, or at any rate more spasmodic in my contact through this medium, as Sandra's computer has to go back to school with her next week.
