Le sigh

Well it's almost 6 p.m. and druidmage hasn't gotten home from the latest training exercise. Don't really expect him in until sometime tomorrow now based off an email he sent earlier in the week and all he said was "Friday or Saturday".

I'm still debating the wolf's paint job. Not too sure if I like it or not. *grr* brb to this post I need to kick restart ( Read more... )

He looks very surprised! I think it's from all the black around the eyes, vs. the grayish-white in the image you are using for inspiration.

But I kind of like the surprised look! He has a sense of humor.

I tried to mix a light gray paint orginally and the paint looked light, but when it dried it was darker than I wanted. And then the blue turned out lighter though some of that is the flash making the color look wierd. I'm considering going back in and taking out some of the racoon look by adding a little more gray around the eyes. I'm just not happy with how it's turning out. I rushed it a little bit and have never painted something this complex. Maybe I'll like it better after the adjustments. I'm also waiting for my husband to weigh in on it when he comes home from the field.

If he doesn't like it I can always make the wolf a black one and maybe leave some blue on the wings.

yeah looks a little too dark on the gray and not dark enough on the blue. Then again it could be from another plane. But overall he looks good. You did a good job. Sometimes those paints dry funny. It's hard to transfer something like that to a statue. Good Job! I wouldn't have even been brave enough to try.

I seriously considering stipping the paint off and starting over. If I can't strip it I'll go black with some shiny stuff and order another one to try again. I've already got two Griffin ideas I want to try out as well. Don't know about Dragons or Kirins, but I am anxiously awaiting the PYO Unicorn to come out as well. That's one I'll have lots of fun on. Same with a PYO Pegasus if she ever does one.

I think it's turning out well. I like the paws. Can't say much else.

I'm pleased with how the paws turned out, but that's about it. I actually did some blending on the front legs and you can kind of see it.

You may want to try a light gray or white wash to tone down the blue some.

Some of the glaring of the blue is due to the ligting I had to use to take the pictures (can we say overhead stove light?). I really need to take it out in daylight to photograph it that way. If I stay with this paint job I plan on doing a layer of antiquing in a dark blue to help bring out some of the fur lines.

If I don't, I'll try to get the paint off and try again mixing the paints differently. If it won't come off this one may become a black wolf and I order a new one to try again.
