Unable to get Plan 9 and Minix on VB

Considering that every time I installed Plan 9 it ended up messing up the system badly, I decided to go easy on the stable system and try it on Virtual box. Unfortunately neither Plan 9 nor Minix could be installed on the VirtualBox 3.2.6. Academia and Industry both work well on their own. Getting new R&D into industry-wide adoption requires co-operation, not condescension from either side.

"... academia seems to devalue the industry ways of working" -- well, not all industry activities are done to earn academics' approval. There's a lot of money making to be done. Money making itself is not a "lower cause" because money is just a metric for how able people are to help each other as a society by providing articles or services of value (swindling and premiums notwithstanding).

I think putting a casteism spin on it is not the right way to look at it. I'm quite convinced that most academics look to the industry for acceptance and co-operation. The ones that don't are digging a little well for themselves to dwell in like frogs.

I wrote that because I kept getting that feeling. Sometimes listening to localites who try downplaying the industrial thing when they are working here and start praising them as soon as they switch the job. Further I remember that when I had been to COMAD six years back, the only reason why Yahoo and other companies were around was to find out good talent who could be recruited with them or else it was to sort of market their activities, ideas or implementation. Even when they were sharing dais it looked like two independent streams on board.

There seems a gap and there seems less efforts to bring the two closer. Rather it seems both are happy in their own world.
