Playing with Voice Recgonition software

I can't type as fast as I can think.  I can't even type without looking at the keyboard (though when I'm not thinking about it, I notice that I do type without looking).  Anyway, I was thinking that maybe some of my Writer's Block problem comes from the fact that I *know* what needs to be said, but taking out the time to type it is part of my issue ( Read more... )

Hmmmm that is a pretty cool idea! I know my main problem with writing (non-sims stuff, at least) is that I'm too lazy to actually sit down and write. Maybe speaking it would help.

The problem, I've found, is that you need to speak very clear and slow. Plus you have to say the punctuation, including "open quote" and "close quote." In the time it took for me to correct all of the errors it made I could have just actually typed the darn thing out. But, seeing as I was doing a soap opera sequence, I was terribly amused at acting the lines out.

So, it was fun. I might use to to jot down ideas and such. I dunno. I have to work with it more. I've found that while "typing" with it, using Notepad works the best though.

You should try it, if only for the laughs.

heh. I've been there. Oh, have I been there.

Sadly, my name-brand voice recognition software can't spell my last name. A dirt common boy's first name, but it insists on omitting one of the letters just to spite me. But it can be handy.
