You are lucky, Shannon! I feel that you love each other very much.
I don’t have siblings

Were you lonely growing up as an only child, or you had a lot of kids in the neighborhood/school to play with?

I have an older brother. There was a time when we couldn't stand each other! We have a great relationship now though.
Oh, and it's also funny, but when we were little children, I used to protect him :) Even though I was younger.

He's in America or overseas? Why did he need protecting? :))

He is in Russia. I honestly don't remember why he needed protecting. I do remember that I was rather brave and other kids even nicknamed me "Terminator"... lol

Seems people learn to value family more as they age. For me, I've always been close to my sister and extended family. Without them, I would have had many sad and lonely periods in life.

I have a younger sister and we don't hate each other. Why should we? :) Also I have a cousin but I consider him like a sib. We grown together and spent many time with each other.

Same with me! I consider many cousins who are close to my age as siblings because we grew up doing everything together. You saw some of them in my recent post with old photos. :)

my sister is 7 years younger than me. when she was born, my childhood was over. that was the rule in our family - only the youngest child is a child. and of course she couldn't help using it. sometimes i just hated her. everything changed when we both became mothers. at the moment we have the real sisterhood and her kis are like my own for me.
