I have tons of pictures, and of course will show. Of all the cities I visited, Khiva was my favorite. But I also was in Bukhara. It is much more modern than the other cities.

congratulations on making it back alive and in one piece!

so, how was their English? did they sound like they were all from Brooklyn?
or some had distinct London accents?

They do not know English. :)) But everyone speaks Russian, and I was traveling with a Russian speaker so everything was fine. Most young people know a few words of English and many were excited to see an American woman. I have never been stopped so many times by strangers to ask if I would take selfies with them. For me, it was very strange to be treated as a celebrity of sorts.

Welcome back. Yes, Uzbeks are OK. However, 20 years ago it was hard in there. What do you think of Tashkent?

Based on what the locals tell me, the country has changed dramatically in the past two years with the new leadership. And for the better. Tashkent for me is just a big city, I did not really find anything charming about it. It's quite interesting how the entire place was rebuilt after the earthquake in the 60's. Uzbeks are very charming, and extremely artistic. I completely fell in love with all of the crafts, handmade ceramics, rugs, colorful clothes, etc. I brought tons of stuff back to the USA.

Yes, old boss became quite crabby in the latter years of his life. However, he should receive credit for keeping the country out of abyss when it was very close. Yeah, crafts are nice over there. Did you buy a pitchok knife?

No knives. I bought mostly jewelry, ceramic plates and traditional Uzbek coats. Beautiful!
