Potential Customers LJ Lost

If you use a FREE LiveJournal account, it doesn’t mean that your voice doesn’t count.

If you were unhappy and dissatisfied with the way in which the Strikethrough- and the Boldout-related incidents were handled by 6A/LJ, and decided not to spend your money on their products and services, make it known.

Make it noticed.

1. How long have you been with LJ? 3 years

2. Have you ever thought of getting a paid/permanent account? What prevented you from doing it in the past? Never.

3. Why did you decide not to become a paid member now? (What is your biggest complaint?)
My biggest complaint is LJ/6A's inability to state clearly exactly what constitutes a suspension and their inability to follow the steps outlined in their own TOS or to change the TOS to reflect the new steps they will take.

4. What can 6A/LJ do to win you back?
At this point, nothing. They have made it clear where they stand.

5. Are you going to stay with LJ as a free member, or are you going to migrate to another blogging website?
I will be staying, but not updating my LJs, only commenting on friends' LJs. I have moved to DJ, GJ and IJ.

1.  I've been with LJ since December 2004, for my first account; since May 2006, for my second.

2.  Yes, I have thought of getting a paid/permanent account.  I was prevented by questioning it as a financial priority (I haven't much money).

3.  I am now at the point at which, regardless of how much money I have available to spend on such a thing, I will not get a paid account-and Strikethrough and Boldout are the reason.

4.  Probably nothing can LJ do to win me back, though I'm not entirely sure of that.

5.  I'm staying with LJ for now, but have spent a lot of time investigating other sites, ones that are very like LJ in terms of functionality but different in terms of management.  Although I got my first LJ account in 2004, I originally had my second blog at Blogger.com, until I decided I'd rather be at LJ (because of functionality and who was where).  But, now, as I say, I'm looking for something that's like LJ but is not LJ.  This is true even though neither either of my blogs, nor the community I run, is likely to be whacked by ( ... )

1. How long have you been with LJ?
Since November 2004, I think.

2. Have you ever thought of getting a paid/permanent account? What prevented you from doing it in the past?
Yes. I was envious of my friends' ability to micro-customize their journals and use many different userpics of their favorite characters to suit their mood. I kept telling myself I don't have enough money.

3. Why did you decide not to become a paid member now? (What is your biggest complaint?)
That I might not be safe because I write Noir yuri and make Noir AMVs.

4. What can 6A/LJ do to win you back?
I really don't now. Probably get rid of Six Apart, for starters.

5. Are you going to stay with LJ as a free member, or are you going to migrate to another blogging website?
When the striethrough happened, I got scared and backed up my journal. This time, I backed up my journal again and am thinking about keeping my LJ as my main journal and keeping a backup elsewhere, just in case. The third time, I'm probably going to out-and-out move.

1. How long have you been with LJ? Two and a half years.

2. Have you ever thought of getting a paid/permanent account? What prevented you from doing it in the past? I've always planned to get a paid account when I turned 18. I probably would have gotten a permanent account at the recent sale, but I felt that I couldn't trust Six Apart after Strikethrough.

3. Why did you decide not to become a paid member now? (What is your biggest complaint?) I'm not going to pay for a service that will delete my account and ban my ISP arbitrarily, with no warning or clear reasoning.

4. What can 6A/LJ do to win you back? Simply announce that they will host anything and everything that is not illegal under U.S. law. That's all.

5. Are you going to stay with LJ as a free member, or are you going to migrate to another blogging website? I'll join Scribblit and JournalFen as soon as they let me. I've also got a backup IJ and GJ, but I don't think I'll use them much. I'm going to keep my LJ and use it sparingly to keep up with those who aren't leaving.
