freaky weather!

May 27, 2011 20:13

My internet mysteriously broke yesterday. Very frustrating. It's embarrassing to admit but I get cranky when I can't get on the net. It all seems to be working now though. *knocks on wood*

Flight to Chicago is booked! I shall be landing at 1pm and am hopeful I'll reach the hotel at a reasonable time thereafter.

We had freaky weather here Wednesday. I ( Read more... )

Wow. Tornado outside Willows. Scary. We've been having rain, but nothing major.

For Chicago, I'm meeting with Mackenziesmomma this weekend to plan our trip. I think we might be arriving also on Friday, but I just need to confirm our hotel reservations. Looks like $400 is the cheapest from Seattle, but I need to do a little more research.

I guess the conditions were just right to produce tornadoes. Freaky weather!

$400 was the cheapest I could find as well. August feels so far away now but it will be here before we know it!

Scary. We had a funnel cloud just north of here a few weeks back but it never touched down. Though the weather here was *very* schizophrenic today- everything from hail to sun to thunder and lightning.

lol, we had schizophrenic weather last weekend. It was pouring rain, thundering, yet the sun was shinning to the west. Weird.

I'm seconding the bit about the internet causing cranky. Nothing gets me growling faster than the internet being stupid. 0=c>

And seconding the weather too... this is East Coast weather, not Cali!! I'd protest more except, really, I kinda like the cooler weather as opposed to the usual blazing heat we should be getting in to around now...

But I've been AFK for a week so my brain's rusty... what's in Chicago, again?

I agree with you about the cooler weather, sans the tornadoes of course!

There's a Stargate convention in Chicago in August. http://creationent.com/cal/sgchi.htm It was Stargate fandom that bought me to LJ in the first place and I'm meeting up with LJ friends there. Will be loads of fun!

I'm glad that you're ok!
Tornadoes are impressive in a way, but also pretty scary of course, and the damage they cause is frightening. Here in Germany we only get very small ones occasionally, and most of the time there are just funnel clouds.

Me too! California is not prone to getting tornadoes, but when they do, it is big news. This storm, which pales in comparison to the storms and tornadoes in the Midwest, did produce quite a bit of damage to some homes and agricultural fields. The tornadoes touched down in rural areas a few towns over and I just happened to be in one of those at the time (crazy timing!). The extent of the storm in my community was a crazy downpour of rain and hail, with some street flooding.

I'm glad you "only" got a baby one and no-one was hurt.

That's pretty awesome footage though.
