I just went and did something I've never done before

I responded to a couple of personal ads on Craigs List of folks looking to meet new friends. My two closest friends don't live in the same town as me. The closest friend is 45 minutes away, the other is an hour away. They're a phone call away, but it's just not the same as spontaneously getting together. I think I'm getting lonely

I think it's really cool you responded to those ads. None of my friends currently live in the same state as me and it really sucks. You'll have to let us know how it goes!

And that getting lonely thing... this is something that worries me as well. My best friend lives a little more than an hour away from me, my two other really good friends live more than five hours away. There are other people I like who don't live that far away, but it's not the same. And making new really close friends is hard. Sometimes I'm afraid I'll end up as a hermit.

5 hours is a long way. 1 hour isn't too bad, but still far. It's hard to have spontaneous get togethers when friends are so far away.
