Also, it's only a correlation: depressed people are eating shit. It doesn't necessarily mean that eating shit causes depression.

Interestingly, my grandmother had TB as a teenager in Hungary, where they cook their food for hours and hours and well brought up young girls stay indoors to protect their complexions.
She said she cured her TB by "doing as the peasants did when they got TB", which consisted of sitting in the sun and eating only raw food for six months.
Given how many people died of it back then (we're talking early 1930s), that's quite a rap for the raw food diet. She must have been deficient in Vitamin D and a whole bunch of other things at the time.
