The Old West
Finally found time to read Red Blood and Black Ink: Journalism in the Old West. Fun stuff. Not a lot of depth on any one character, but we do get A. W. Merrick of Deadwood. -

Hmmm, almost six months since I posted here. I suppose I ought to write something. I'm fine, busy, commenting on other folks' journals, talking about Elizabethan costumes and portraits on Facebook. Welcome 2012
Folding laundry in the quiet while the rest of the household naps. The good thing about company at Christmas is I can greet the new year in a clean house with a full larder, beginning as I mean to continue. May 2012 bring you all sorrows and joys in proper measure, rain and sunshine in season, and much music and laughter.

Just stumbled across this 2007 PhD. thesis: Elfland Revisited: A Comparative Study of Late Twentieth Century Adaptations of Two Traditional Ballads by Stephanie Giebert. The ballads are (inevitably?) Thomas the Rhymer and Tam Lin. I haven't had time to read this yet, but I wanted to share...

Living in a science fiction novel
Yesterday, from work, I saw on my Google home page that there was a new Shadow Unit story. Clicked the link, clicked the Readability "send to Kindle" button in my browser. Saw in Twitter that the new Bear novelette is in the January Asimov's. Clicked my Amazon bookmark, searched for Asimov's, clicked January issue, bought Kindle edition with one ( Read more... ) -
Electronics
I have a Blackberry Torch in my pocket. I have an older Kindle for reading. I now have an iPad for work and week after next I will have a Kindle Fire. I also have two laptops. I expect I will become completely dyslexic about the keboarding differences over the next few months.
