OK, so I think I posted last time that even though my original cardiology appointment was now being covered by my insurance company, I still had to get all of these referrals and special permissions in order to go to Mass General in order to meet with the supervising cardiologist and surgeon and also to have the actual surgery (and probably to piss ( Read more... )

Okay, so, if I understand this correctly:

To get your original cardiologist appointment, even though you have documentation of having previous treatment by a cardiologist and a heart condition, you had to go to a general doctor and get a referral to your cardiologist.

Now, to get the surgery, which said cardiologist recommended, you have to go BACK to the general doctor for ANOTHER referral? WHY? Your other doctor doesn't know what's up, THAT'S WHY YOU GOT THE FUCKING REFERRAL IN THE FIRST PLACE WHICH WAS STUPID BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE A HEART PROBLEM YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A HEART PROBLEM. PEOPLE DON'T GET HEART SURGERY FOR FUN.

Sorry for the capsrage (I'm still mad about last night AND my brain added insult to injury by creating a dream that was extremely similar in context so even dream-me was pissed) but seriously motherfucking bullshit.

Yeah. I mean, the hoops I jumped through for my glasses (and was ready to jump through for my recent dental work) or fuck, for my LEEP... it's a bunch of bullshit. Of all the things that I am heavily politicized on, insurance/health care reform is a big one. I think that everyone should have access to the services they need, and I think that they should be affordable, and I think that people shouldn't have to run here and there and everywhere to get care! Is it is so wrong to want to walk into any office, any doctor, any hospital, anywhere in the country, get the care that I need, and be billed the same amount in a reasonable amount of time? No pre-authorizations. No referrals of referrals. (Or maybe just an initial referral, I'd be okay with that, since it's usually your GP that will realize that there's something wrong in the first place, even if they don't quite know what and I don't think it's fair to tie up specialists for 'I don't feel good' cases ( ... )

gotta love the jumping through hoops...at least you have a 3rd party. I'm trying to get my mail order pharmacy set up and I am NOT liking it. @ all. 1st they LOSE the perscription. Then they have the doctor refax the paperwork, and now I am just waiting. I thought it wouldn't be that hard, but i guess it will be all worth it since I will get 3 mos of perscriptions for the cost of two. :)

So we'll have to see how THAT goes.

someone in that office is going to need a good smack upside the head. seriously.
