Got home from the cardiologist about an hour ago. Being in the MRI tube is basically what it would be like to be in a coffin. It was a really long day with lots of people poking and prodding me, but the result is that I'm healthy. OK, so I think I posted last time that even though my original cardiology appointment was now being covered by my insurance company, I still had to get all of these referrals and special permissions in order to go to Mass General in order to meet with the supervising cardiologist and surgeon and also to have the actual surgery (and probably to piss ( Read more... )

Got word last week that insurance will be covering my initial cardiology visit from a couple of weeks ago.  Now, I need to get special permission from my insurance company to go to the specific hospital.  My cardiologist will have to write a referral for this, but I'm not too worried about this part of it - what I have is very specialized, so I  ( Read more... )

In a nutshell:

I had open heart surgery when I was 5. I have regular cardiology check ups to make sure everything is still OK.  I need to have heart surgery again.
