Hey, I'm not dead.

Sep 16, 2007 20:07

I've for some reason not been inclined to go online in the evening and writing, but lots of interesting things have happened and I'll try to sort of catch up.
It will be long, so I'm going to put it on a cut.... )

Wow, busy! Welcome back.

Your boss' reaction to your French gave me a giggle. Kind of makes you want to learn a useful sentence or two in a bunch of different languages and find opportunities to use them around him, doesn't it? :-)

Oh, that's a great idea!

I love working for Barb. She was one of the first 5 or 6 Chief Privacy Officers ever, working for HP, and is one of the thought leaders, if you will, in the industry. I interacted with her when I was at Intel and she at HP, and working with her/for her is like having a dream job. It makes me not only want to go to work and learn from her, but when she listens to me it's just amazing. And when I'm doing what she hired me to do (build networks among the engineering teams throughout the company and proving to them that we can really help them), it feels great.

Did you print off the confirmation that your passport is in process, from the State Dept website? That's part of what you need, so I'm guessing that you already did that, just didn't mention it.

Oh, DUH. I didn't think about this. I just went there, and this was the response:

Thank you for submitting your passport application!

Last Name: MC GREGOR
Date Of Birth: 12/23/BLAH
Social Security Number: xxx-xx-BLAH

Your passport application locator number is XXXXXXXXX.

We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you.

You paid for overnight delivery. This means you should receive your passport on or about 09/28/2007.

If you have any additional questions, please contact the National Passport Information Center with the above locator number. It will enable them to update you on the status of your application.

So, if it's done, and has been overnighted to me, why won't it get here for two weeks????

Good question.

I think that you need to call back, and say this is what the system said, and ask for an explanation.

It's possible they were giving you a "canned" answer, but that the new one you posted, is the reality. Let's hope so.

I was just thinking about you today. I can totally relate to not feeling like getting online at home after a day in the office. I'm the same way - probably why I don't really get on the computer on the weekends as well.

Glad you're doing good!!

I was thinking of you, too. Can you send me email with your phone number in it? With my personal cell phone AWOL, I don't have your number any more!!

Aren't they wonderful? I'm going to get some made up and framed for Xmas presents for some of the family. I found a cute set of frames that will be great presents.

I just can't get over that smile and how much fun he has a lot of the time.
