Kurt Vonnegut died today. His Cat's Cradle was one of the first SF books I read, along with Sirens of Titan. I loved the struggle it took to read some of his work and understand them. For what he survived and how he tried to give it to all of us in his literature, even for the "sunscreen" speech he never wrote, I admired him since I bought his ( Read more... )

Roscoe had such a wonderful voice, too - I think of it almost always when thinking about diction.

Roscoe was a wonderful counterpoint to Archie Bunker in many ways. I also admired his wonderful speaking voice.

I don't think about Ice 9 often, but when I do I remember that I didn't want ice in my beverage for about a week after finishing the book.

And that's quite a statement from a Southerner like me!
