Moonridge 2007 - what to offer if you haven't to offer something...

Apr 26, 2007 09:53

I would love to contribute something to the auction, aside from bidding like mad, of course, but I don't have any skills in writing, doing art, photo manips, vids or icons.

But a lot of other fans *do* have those skills without offering something to the auction for various reasons.

That made me wonder if it would be possible to "lure" some of them into doing something for the auction anyway, without having to offer up something right now. *g*

While browsing through various LJs I noticed that some of the "I'm not offering this year"-reasons fall into the category of still having obligations from past auctions, having too much RL interfering right now or being just too shy to offer.

Which got me thinking....

CAUTION! Immature, half-baked and perhaps not working idea ahead.

Let's suppose for a moment I would offer not to write a story but to *read* it. *g*

Okay. Stop giggling! ;-)

I'm thinking about the following:

If I would put up the description of some plot-ideas, ideas for scenes, topics etc. and would ask for short stories (or even long ones ;-) ), written scenes, drabbles, vids, photo-manips, icons, art, *whatever*, coupled with the offer to pay a certain amount of money for each bidder who volunteers to do something for a topic....

*and* promise to be patient about the delivery...

do you think people would go for it?

Perhaps three ideas and then offering to pay for the first 5 or so offers on each idea in the range of

short story - $ 10
scenes/drabbles - $ 5
vids and photo manips - § 10
icons - $ 5
hand made art - $ 25 or more

of course, all prices negotiable since I have no clue how much work doing vids, manips etc. requires.

What do you think about this idea? Dumb? Worth a try?

Too cheap?
Too expensive?

Should I think a little more about it?

PatK
