Moonridge 2007 - what to offer if you haven't to offer something...

Apr 26, 2007 09:53

I would love to contribute something to the auction, aside from bidding like mad, of course, but I don't have any skills in writing, doing art, photo manips, vids or icons ( Read more... )

I think it's a great idea, Pat. Very original too.

Glad you like it. I mean, I have nothing to lose if nobody goes for it, right? *g*

It's an interesting idea to be sure... I'm really enjoying the many and various ways people are getting creative this year!

I also like the idea of one off, small payments for stuff which gets more people involved. I know when I bid for stories they very quickly move out of my affordable range.

It's all good, I think. Anything that brings in some cash for Moonridge has to be good, right?

Yes, if Aly thinks it's do-able, I'm definitely introducing the concept on a wider range and hope more people will pick it up. :-)

>>that you'll basically get "winner's choice" fic (art, icons whatever),

Yep, that's the beauty of it. ;-)

>>but no author/artist has to commit to write/compose something before she knows what the winner wants.<<

A real win-win situation, isn't it? *g*

And the fixed price tag will hopefully take away a little of the pressure from the authors. You simply know you have to write a fic that's worth $ 10, not an epos for over one or even two hundred. :-)

And yes, the "I can spend 5/10/20 dollars, who's going to write for that"-concept would enhance the chance for getting a "winners choice" (short) story at an affordable level but they might not end up with their favorite authors. *g*

Ah, well, you can't have *everything*, right? ;-)

Thank you. :-) I think I'm going for it and will contact Aly about it. :-) After all, no harm done if nothing comes out of it, right?

This is a great idea and it works a bit like the prompt ficathons where prompts are offered by many people and the writers can pick any prompt that actually inspires them. You're far more likely to get stories that way.

You know, you should post this idea for other contributors to use as well in TS news and maybe one of the mailing lists. Someone could post that they'd love a good road trip to Las Vegas fic or a handcuff kink PWP (for ex.) and would pay $20 for that, anyone who felt they had a bunny for that could offer to write it. Maybe ask Aly if people could advertise for writers in moonridge-2007?

Also, I noticed there aren't a lot of gen fic offerings up, so this is a way for gen readers to donate by asking specifically for that.

Thanks, Caro. :-) Yes, the idea was actually inspired by the concept of ficathons, challenges and prompts. *G* After all, it's practically the same except someone is going to *pay* for it for the sake of Moonridge. *g*

I've contacted Aly about the idea and if it's going to work, the concept is open to anyone who wants to use ist. After all, the more people offer *something* the more we will raise for Moonridge. :-) In this case, making it more public is of course a good idea. :-) Thanks for that, didn't thought of it. :-) Same goes for gen-related work. :-) Though I first want to hear Aly's opinion on it, if it's doable on the practical side of things. :-)

Great input from you, my dear. *g* How are the orgasms coming along? ;-)

Absolutely. I'm hoping all these small dollar offerings will pull in people who can't afford the larger amounts and can't find things in their price range but would love to bid what they can. It adds up and Moonridge wins.

How are the orgasms coming along? ;-)

They're coming *snicker* along very well. At this point, we have ten contributions adding up to 4000 words and one piece of art! *g* And there are more orgasms promised.

>>They're coming *snicker* along very well.

*ggg* Hoped so.

10 contributions with up to 4000 words *and* more is promised? Man, you can split it up in 4 different items since you originally aimed for 1000 words, right? *g*
