The more I think about it, the more bugged I get that the history we're taught about in schools is mostly about old white dudes. (And when you do learn about Canada's First Nations, it's pretty much exclusively about their lifeways prior to European contact, and there's often very little sense that they continued to exist, and still exist today ( Read more... )

Isn't Annapolis Royal near Halifax (well NS, so i guess so)? The name is familiar, and most non-s_d Canadians I know online are from that corner...

Well, same province, but I think Annapolis Royal is closer to the Bay of Fundy. I mean, it's relatively close to Halifax from where I'm sitting, but they're not right next to each other.
