Season's Tweetings

I had a tooth pulled in December--it turned out I was walking around with a massive abscess for years after a tooth quietly died--so I didn't do a lot of Christmas cards. But, I did doodle this quickly to give to my helper :-) I'd like to make it into a larger, more polished image someday.

My husband, Paul, had that done a couple years ago, and for a similar reason. Two teeth next to each other had been root canaled, capped, and he had to see an endoscopic dentist who could root canal (again!) teeth that were already capped. And were already expensive teeth. But apparently, when one is root canaled, infection can get in there. And that's what happened. There is no antibiotic that can get rid of it. The teeth had to be pulled and a bridge constructed in their place. So they are even MORE expensive teeth now.

Since he grinds his teeth at night, he also has to wear a mouth guard. So, I frequently have to remind him to put it in before he lies down for the night. I don't want even more money going to the dentist.

Ugh, I'm pretty sure I spent enough at the dentist (before he retired) to put his grandson through college :-D

The endodontist looked at the 3D x-ray, made a lot of unconfident noises and said pulling it would be the surest way to deal with it. Ah well...if I was 20 years younger I would have considered saving it, but now that I'm closing in on 50 it's okay.

Yeah... Paul is 60, and it's more of a quality of life issue than an aesthetic issue. He's already sunk a lot of money into his teeth. But he NEEDS teeth, because we are foodies, and he, particularly, is a meat eater. (I could exist very well on fish, grains, and vegetables.) His bridge looks like regular teeth. Dentures were out of the question, and I've heard bad things about implants. One of them being how expensive they are. And that they can be "rejected."

Thanks!

I was actually so happy to have it gone. It was amazing how much better I felt after it was removed :-D It wasn't painful, but my body was working hard on fighting the infection.
