What The Fluff? Hundreds of budgies surrendered!

Dec 29, 2021 16:10

This story has been going around Facebook and Twitter all yesterday and I can't quite wrap my head around it.

836 budgies were surrendered in Detroit, Michigan, yikes! You can watch a news clip at this link, which has links to the rescue organizations working together to help the birds and accept donations.

I know! I saw a bitty piece in my local paper about it, and was like.... WTF??!! I've KNOWN hoarders. I've cleaned up after them after they eventually died (Urggh!) But how the hell can a person keep so many budgies in their home? They must have been crammed together in tiny cages. Poor things. I hope they get better homes, but considering their previous one, I guess that's a given.

It's mind-boggling! I know there are mental illnesses associated with hoarding, but the mess and noise...it's a wonder they survived at all. I have been following one of the rescues, Birds and Beaks on Facebook and the budgies got a massive upgrade for sure! A company donated UV lights and they definitely have lots of millet, a whole box!
