Pak-o-bird?

Is anyone here familiar with the Pak-o-bird travel carriers? I'm looking for a backpack style carrier for Kappa (dusky conure, her size is between a GCC and a sun) that she can see out of so that I can take her for walks/hikes/bike rides with me. I'm interested in knowing things such as how sturdy is it (that is, will Kappa easily chew her way ( Read more... )

I don't have one but I've seen them. They are REALLY nice! I know quite a few people who have used them (for conures, Amazons, greys) and RAVE about them.

I believe that there are two kinds of mesh; the stronger one might be a SST mesh that should hold up to Kappa's beak.

Yeah, I haven't seen one in person, but the pictures make them look awesome. I did see that there's a cheaper mesh (nylon?) option, and a more expensive stainless steel option.

When I first got Kappa I really wanted to train her onto a harness, but then I kept seeing red-tailed hawks at my bird feeder and I got nervous. (My bird feeder provides seeds to the herbivorous birds, and herbivorous birds to the carnivorous ones!) Then I tried for a while sitting on my porch with Kappa in a travel cage, but that got boring for me. So I'm thinking that something I can carry with me and I can go somewhere with a destination would be more interesting for me and over time she'd get to enjoy it.

Same for me. I've been looking at it online, but hesitating to spend too much money without knowing. I'd love to see pics and a first-hand opinion posted if/when you get it!

We have one and love it! I have only used it for out Grey and haven't had a single issue. Definitely doesn't seem to overheat, she hasnt had any interest in chewing on it and can't unzip it. She loves it and every time she sees it all I hear is "go for a walk and a car!" because we've primarily used it to take get with us to car shows

I can't see mosquitos getting in, the mesh is very fine.

I have a small it is not easy to chew out of the Stainless Steel model. It would definitely keep mosquitoes out. The mesh is extremely fine. I have no idea on the over heating, I'd guess it would be possible if you left all the flaps down so the air circulation was low. I've only had mine since January. Pictures available if you need them.

I have one for Clancy the CAG and it's *great*! It stays in my car all summer and he rides quite comfortably in it. He has spent upward of four to six-seven hours in it for long out-of-town trips and rides quite happily; for long trips I put it up on something so he can see out the window. The seatbelt goes through loops on the back to secure it. When I'm checking into a hotel or some other activity and don't want to leave him in the car, I just slip it on like a backpack ( ... )
