Jasper has a travel cage. It's tiny. Truely a 'we are going somewhere and you'll be out when we get there' 18x18x22 travel cage/carrier, though it's just a little shorter than the cage he lived in for years ( Read more... )

I'm not too worried about bar spacing. 1" is pretty standard for YNA, and he's a HUGE YNA, so even 1.25 wouldn't worry me a bit. It's the useable space that I'm most concerned about. Yes, his current cage is pretty much the minimum I would keep him in long-term, and that's with out time too. :( I think you're right that one of the folding types I would be easiest for moving, and luckily he's not and has never been a bar chewer, so I don't need giant gauge birdy Alcatraz wire.

I probably wouldn't want to go much smaller than 24" by 20" or so, which is still pretty small. That's the size cage that my 420 g Amazon and my 520 g grey has been living in for about six weeks, and they're surviving, but not thrilled.

(They get their big cages (42" by 30") back in two more weeks! Thank Goodness.)

Thank you for your response. I hope you're getting moved in well!

It's good to hear that he probably won't go crazy and die from being in a smaller space for a few weeks. I won't be going until next summer, but I'm already worrying about him. ::sigh::

We got our plexi travel cage from Blue Angel Aviaries and also use it as a sleep cage. They don't have a website but you might email them at cowgirlup722@hotmail.com or call 636-346-9000 or 314-517-4576 and see if they can email you info. The plexi cage isn't very big (but bigger than a wingabago), but we made a playstand that goes on top of it and he spends a lot of time out if we travel.
