I think you're going to have to separate them -- that's a size difference that's pretty massive, and the budgie has the high possibilty of getting hurt or killed. How big is the aviary?

Also, a lory that sits hunched and with its head down? Probably should go see an avian vet. That seems like weird behavior for such active birds.

As for biting -- http://www.rationalparrot.com/biting.html :)

Haha that is cracking me up. I think ringnecks love food and romance more than anything. My boy has been dancing for my PC mouse lately. Sorry I have no advice.

ill look at the site thanks!!

im not worried about the lori's health at the moment, hes noisy and play and chatters away all day, hes very happy and busy, but he only hangs him head all hunched over when i talk to him/or try to get him to sit on my hand and stuff. its like hes just trying his hardest to avoid me! ahah

Was your new lory even vet checked when you first brought him home and then introduced to your other bird?

Separate. An annoyed ringneck could kill a budgie, so if things are getting touchy between them, this is what you may need to do to ensure the safety of your budgie.

separate the ringnecks from the budgies. an annoyed ringneck could easily kill a budgie, and that is not something you want.

as for the lori, bloo seems to have the best advice. i second another vet check, just to make sure everything is ok, though. you never know when something might be lingering and just pops up.

edit- we had a quaker that suddenly developed diabetes and showed symptoms very similar to that. i would take the bird in asap- we lost ours, i would hate to see that happen to anyone else.

Definitely separate the IRN from the budgie.

If separating them means unfortunately re-homing the ringnecks, you might try a trial separation. Is there anyway to separate them, then reintroduce him, putting him where he can see all of his friends but not interact with them? A cage beside or inside the aviary, perhaps ( ... )
