She's totally amazing. I've met her twice, she's the lovliest person ever! Eurgh Susan Boyle. That woman is just, eugh haha, not got a patch on Ruthie! I Dreamed A Dream was my favourite song until she ruined it! I still like it obviously, but it just doesn't have the same kick as it did before if you get me? Nobody can beat Ruthie though, gives me chills. She sang it the second time i saw her and i wanted to cry!

Lord, I'd be tickled enough just to see her live once, much less get a chance to say, 'hi!'
I don't know why people think she sounds so good. :x I take flack for this because she's got a sad life story but that doesn't really have to do with your actual vocal abilities. Listening to her sing I Dreamed a Dream kind of hurts my ears, ok. Someone also linked me to her singing the Fugees song, Killing Me Softly, and she didn't really impress me that much more. It did sound like they'd auto-tuned given her some vocal lessons, though.
Loreena McKennitt is one of my favorite people, seriously. I recognize Andy McKee from somewhere (holy crap, watching him is impressive.) and I almost want to say that he was on Josh Groban's Christmas album when I watched the making of.
Thank you for these! I don't really have any specific genres that I prefer. I've found that I don't like a lot of the modern top 40 pop stuff or electronic music because I'm big into the organic sound. There's always something that surprises me with an awesome melody or a catchy hook, though. Umbrella by Rihanna? God. I don't listen to the radio ever so I don't have to worry about them overplaying songs for me. I loved that Umbrella song. Otherwise, some of my favorite people are Ben Harper, Melody Gardot, and Ludovico Einaudi. Eric Clapton's Robert Johnson covers, too. Lmao, this is a really hard question for me. I don't know, lol. I LIKE IT ALL GIVE ME ALL OF IT. Otis Redding and Percey Sledge, too. I could probably answer this question all day, holy crap.
I can't stand a lot of the sounds coming out these days that pass for "music". There are still some golden voices out there, but most of them are polished up for the sake of money.
There's an event I've attended twice and it, fortunately, has become an annual event. I don't know if you're a gamer or not, but you will probably enjoy the concert nonetheless. It's called Video Games Live, it's an orchestrated concert in which music from classic and current video games are are re-mediated from electronic sound to live music.
That looks like it would be amazing. My boy and I are big gamers and that looks like it might be worth a drive to Texas or Georgia. I'm going to show him this when he gets home from work. :D
Yeah. :( It's kind of sad that I'm now surprised when a band or singer gives a good live performance instead of the other way around.
