IT WAS AMAZING. I, like, shrieked out loud. I wasn't expecting it this soon! I'm just...all aflutter still.
Also! The more I think about, the more I love the fact that 'Hey' was playing. At first it was just - 'holycrapilovethissong!' but upon further reflection - it's pretty much perfect.
And 'Hurricane Erickson would be a sweet name.' 'Thanks, Ted.' Hee!
Totally hooray for kissing. Awesome and hot kissing! And can we talk about the scene in the rain for a minute? GAH. So sweet and cute, but still perfectly them!
This is what I'm loving - Barney has actually grown up and (hopefully) realized he can still be himself but be in a relationship. He doesn't have to try and be Ted (who, let it be said, was a terrible (but hilarious) human last night). And we FINALLY got to see Robin actually fall in love with him back! So, yes, clearly I am loving this.
However - yeah, the cheating thing. I feel like that is going to play a huge part in what happens. How they deal with the fact that they are in relationships. Clearly, they have a magnetic pull towards each other, but - Nora and Kevin.
I really really don't want it to, like, come out in some silly/stupid way. Even if they don't decide to really go for it immediately, I think we need to see both of them come clean about what happened.

You are totally not the only one who cares! When they kissed I yelled YES FINALLY! to my empty living room. I am really hoping that they will handle this better the second time around (conveniently, in this context 'they' can refer to both the writers and the characters).
I really liked all of their scenes together last night. When Barney told her any day that passed without him seeing her was a day wasted? When Robin's phone rang and she made him show his hands? Adorbs!

Right?!
Like, the scene in the rain was amazing enough (when he smiled and showed his hands?! Also - this time someone calling her interrupted, as opposed to Nora calling Barney) but then they showed the cab and 'Hey' started, it was like - you knew something was going to happen. I was so excited.
(conveniently, in this context 'they' can refer to both the writers and the characters)
Word.
I still think the way they broke them up before was ludicrous, but I do love that we got an extended stretch of Robin actually falling for Barney. Before, we got more than season of him basically pining and I was just so excited because (besides the fact their chemistry is out-of-control) I love Barney and he wanted it so bad. But it kind-of came out of nowhere for Robin and then, suddenly, they were together.
I have enjoyed that, but I am super apprehensive. I want them to get this right. I'm taking heart because they can't keep doing all this stuff and giving the Barney/Robin relationship so much time if they didn't have a plan, or if

I've maintained for a long time that this silly show, for all its actual silliness (slap bets, secret pop stardom, etc) isn't that silly at its core. I really feel like it's one of the only shows that actually tries to deal with the things that happen to you as you 'grow up' and shows in a very real way that sometimes life is hard and you don't get what you want or deserve, or think you deserve. Sometimes your parent dies unexpectedly, sometimes you love someone and they love you back but you want different things, sometimes you realize the job you've been aiming towards all your life isn't a job you actually want. Maybe I think about this show too much, too, I don't know

I feel like they invested all this time in Nora for a reason but that is yet to be revealed.
Right? Like, she was cool and everything, but I feel like it went from 'she's hot and Barney's trying to get her in bed' to 'he's in love with her!' Jigga-what? It feels like he's trying to prove something with her, but I don't know what it is.
I have loved the Robin stuff. She's always been my favorite and it's been lovely to see her grow, as well. Which dovetails nicely into your point about the show not being silly at its core. I feel like all of the characters have evolved (except, at times, poor Ted who wants to fall in love so so badly. Don't you feel like he's not going to meet the mother until he has totally given up? If it all goes like it seems like it might - he's going to have to watch Barney and Robin actually fall in love and really be together and you know that's going to make him want to just crawl into a hole. He'll be happy for them because Ted is a good person, but you know it's going to kill him by inches because

Monday's episode made me go SQUEEEEE at the end!! This makes me hopeful that the wedding we've seen, where Ted is Barney's best man, is Barney/Robin:) And IIRC that's going to be where Ted meets The Mother, since we now know that he didn't meet her at Punchy's wedding, right? (All this telling the story in nonsequential flashbacks has me confuzzled...)
HIMYM and I had a rocky time of it right after they got them together the first time because, well, they handled it appallingly. But they got me back last season and it's been pretty great so far this season.

I was already pretty excited before this season started, but this last episode has just totally reaffirmed and flamed my love.
