D.C. is starting to consider actively allowing same-sex marriage.This process is a wee bit more complicated than usual, because D.C. is not a state. Any bill that the city council passes must be approved by Congress. There'll be a fight, but I don't think it'll be much of one. Yup. And they've even been clever enough to specify that religious leaders will not be required to perform same-sex marriages if they object. That language will be a big booster for this bill.

Baby steps are always the best because you never really expect them to walk until they suddenly start pulling at your trouser leg.

I wish my country finaly did it too. The politicians there are 20 years behind the general population.

Baby steps are certainly the best way for the U.S. to do this, just because we do have such a strong tradition of states' rights. And, you know . . . monkey see, monkey do, and all that.
