Butterfly shows evolution at work

Actually, these type of fluctuations in population genetics are seen quite often in bacteria and other "lower organisms". It is likely the first time we've gotten genetic evidence in an insect, though.

This makes me very very happy, especially since my chemistry teacher got on her anti-evolution soapbox again yesterday. She held up a potted plant and said, "This was not made in a tornado. It had to have been designed by an intelligent creator." and so forth. Because, you know, it had everything in the world to do with chemistry.

I really want to debate her on it, or at least ask her to stop shoving her opinions down my throat when it has no relevance to the topic at hand, but I'm not sure how to go about it...

I seriously think that your chem teacher is a moron who needs her degree revoked. Beyond that she isn't a biologist and needs to leave biology to those with some schooling in the subject, evolution = tornado is a supremely silly claim even for a creationist.

Seriously, complain about her political agenda to the higher ups. I can't see any way she can claim that a potted plant and creator talk is related to a chemistry lesson.
