Actually, these type of fluctuations in population genetics are seen quite often in bacteria and other "lower organisms". It is likely the first time we've gotten genetic evidence in an insect, though.
Update: Make that +2 for Evolution. The Evolution of Back Pain...now I can blame my bad back on natural selection putting pressure on early apes to walk upright...and the bad genes I inherited. LOL
