I was told that homosexuality wasn't considered an alternative sexual preference until the 30s...I think (or some random point in time, blame me for not paying attention well enough in classes).

The only other animal that has sex for pleasure aside from humans are dolphins. Which makes me wonder if there are gay dolphins?

religion has always long annoyed me with their stand on this. I'm christian and anglican but I'd rather not be judged according to that as I fully support the union between two people who genuinely love each other, regardless of gender. It also complicates the idea that bi/homosexual people can believe in God and all that.

Ah i didn't know about the dolphins, but it would be interesting if there is actually instances of observed homosexual tendency in the animal kingdom.

And i agree, i was brought up as a christian catholic, and it's just sad how religion discriminnates against them.

yeah, I always live by the basis that Jesus loves everybody, but it's sad to hear priests and superiors gloat on about how it's wrong whenever the topic arises at churches and stuff

Heh the sad thing still is that the value of their teachings tend to oppose the rules and standards that they are setting.

Interesting. Personally, I believe there was homosexuality back in those times. But once, evolution came into play and man was able to analyze and think for themselves; they were surrounded by this general idea of Man and Woman. Being that there is only two genders, I'd like to think it was thought upon as something that is right and is the only course of nature. Nothing was thought of going beyond being "straight" at that time in my opinion. But as you said, the evolved form of the brain that lead to futher advancement, man began to question and explore.

That's just my two cents.

There's not a thing weird about it at all. I'd ponder such questions if I didnt think it so futile to so (at the end of the day, we can theorise and theorise, but we still don't know).

Your thought process seems to be very logical, so there's no use arguing it. :P

Religious legalism tends to assume there's only one reason to get married, to make more children and spread your seed over the earth. That's offensive to more than just homosexuals, I don't want children, and I don't want my sole purpose as a woman just to be Having children. We don't Need more children out there, we need to take care of the kids we already have in the world that don't have anyone to tend to them. Unfortunately breeding seems to be on the forefront of many Christian's minds, either because they were raised in a big family, they're pressured to, or just really think that's the way to go. That's cool for them, but it's unfair to assume everyone wants that for their lives and because they don't they shouldn't get the same basic rights. The thought process does need a updating, the sacredness of marriage Isn't about your sex or child rearing anymore, it's about actually agreeing to and following the bonds of marriage without tossing it away when it's no longer fun.

Ah i didn't even think of that part of the story.
Hard to argue against Religion though, as it's the biggest institution in our existence as a specie
